Welcome to Parnassus
The purpose of this blog is to usher
new classics into the canons of each and every medium. Everyone is excited when the
next big thing comes out, but in time it always all comes down to one question:
is it going to be a classic or not? Are we going to listen to it
forever, or should we all just, as it were, delete it from our hard drive? This blog is meant as a forum for discussing which works—albums, books, movies, etc.—which have not yet been unanimously inducted onto Parnassus, belong there? I am not especially concerned with the converse question of which are not, because they deserve merely to be forgotten, but it would be worth a post to consign to deserved oblivion a work that some decently powerful circle or other is trying mistakenly to canonize. The primary purpose of this blog, however, at least for now, is to
enshrine on Parnassus certain cultural products that I myself consider to belong there. Ultimately I would love to convert this blog into a straight-up
democracy, or at least something like it, but for now all democracy will have to take place within the comments section of individual blog entries.
The Timbaland is banging. Good call. Glad to see a new blog up and running. I've been eager to hear what you have to say these days.
